How to wear light neutrals during the colder months

Wearing white in winter

There are no rules in fashion and even though the "no white after Labor Day" mandate feels very old school there are still a lot of people who really like white and light neutrals but do not feel very comfortable wearing these colors during fall and winter because they afraid that their outfit may look too “summery”. If that’s your case, then you have come to the right place, because in this blog-post I am going to give you some tips on how to style these colors to make them more fall and winter appropriate.

Add some texture

Spring and Summer clothes are beautiful but they tend to lack texture especially compared to their Fall and Winter counterparts. That’s why texture screams autumn and winter in my opinion, and it makes your look instantaneously more interesting. Wearing a knitted sweater or vegan croc leather bag are two easy ways to add some texture and dimension to your outfit.

Warm up your make-up

If you wear make-up, choosing darker and warmer shades for your eyes and lips will make any light colored outfit, even a monochromatic white one, look super autumnal and wintry. If you are not used to wear very dark shades try a muted, warm brown lipstick. It will do the trick!

Throw on a coat

Whenever I hear the word “coat” I think of chilly, windy weather, autumn levees and snow.  A coat is a staple during the colder months and if you want to make your light colored outfit more fall and winter appropriate then choose a long one in beige or black. If like me, you live in a warm climate try a very lightweight coat and wear a short sleeved or even a sleeveless top underneath if it’s hot outside.

Wear dark colored accessories

Nothing says fall and winter like dark, warm shades. Adding some of those colors to our light colored outfits through accessories is a great way to make any outfit moodier without making it a lot darker. A brown or  black bag-shoes duo is a classic, but if you feel daring, try a burgundy shoe or a dark green bag.
